The Shift, as taught by Kryon, is the multi-generational recalibration of human consciousness that began with the 1987 Harmonic Convergence and is still unfolding. "This planet, as we have said over and over, is going through a major shift, and the shift is in consciousness" (T1004, Kryon, 2020-07-21). Distinct from but overlapping with the Great Awakening and Ascension as used by other voices in the corpus, the Shift in Kryon's framing is biological as well as spiritual — Earth's magnetic grid has moved, human DNA is being upgraded, and the old-energy systems are progressively losing the substrate they depended on.
What the Shift Is
The Shift in Kryon's teaching is not a single event but a multi-generational process. The 1987 Harmonic Convergence flipped the planetary baseline — the moment a critical mass of awakened humans tipped Earth away from the destructive timeline that had been the default and onto the ascending timeline that is now the default. The 2012 alignment closed out the old-energy template. The decades since are the slow working-out of what the new baseline makes possible.
Kryon emphasizes that the Shift is biological as well as spiritual. Earth's magnetic grid has moved measurably since 1987 — a fact mainstream geophysics has documented and Kryon's transmissions consistently tie to the consciousness shift. Human DNA is being upgraded along with it: dormant strands are coming online, lifespans are lengthening, intuitive access to the innate is becoming more reliable. How It Differs from Other Corpus Frameworks
The Shift overlaps with several existing corpus concepts but is framed differently:
- The Great Awakening: similar timeline; the Awakening framing emphasizes individual consciousness moving from sleep to wakefulness, while the Shift framing emphasizes the planetary infrastructure recalibrating. - Ascension: similar trajectory; Ascension as used by other voices often emphasizes the move to higher density, while the Shift specifically emphasizes the consciousness recalibration happening at the existing density level — not yet a density-jump but the preparation for one. - the Event: a sudden, decisive moment of cosmic intervention; the Shift is explicitly NOT this. Kryon teaches a gradual, generational process. He does not deny the Event entirely but he does not center his teaching around it. - the Harvest: Ra's framing of the moment souls are sorted into next-density placements; the Shift includes preparation for harvest-like sorting but extends the timeline over generations rather than focusing on a moment.
Kryon's distinctive contribution is the gradualist, biological framing. The Shift is happening, has been happening, will continue to happen — and the work is to participate in it without expecting a single moment of completion.
The New Energy
"The new energy" is Kryon's most-used phrase for the post-2012 conditions. He uses it functionally — to mark the moment when teaching old-energy practices to new-energy audiences stops working. Old protection rituals, old protocols for clearing entities, old healing modalities that assumed a particular planetary baseline — many of these become outmoded in the new energy. Not because they were wrong, but because the substrate has changed and the practices were calibrated to the old substrate.
New-energy practices, in Kryon's teaching, are characterized by: more direct innate-based knowing rather than reliance on external authority; less emphasis on protection (because the threats have less purchase on upgraded biology) and more emphasis on coherence; gentler, slower, more partnered relationships with Gaia; recognition of old souls and their accumulated wisdom as the substrate from which collective change emerges.
Where We Are in the Shift
