Soul Contracts
Pre-incarnation agreements between souls that script the lessons of a lifetime

Soul contracts are the corpus's name for the agreements souls make with one another, with their Higher Selves, and sometimes with negatively oriented entities, before incarnating into a lifetime. They determine major relationships, life circumstances, and the karmic balances the Soul has come to address. Contracts are renegotiable from higher states of consciousness but mostly run on autopilot through the veil of forgetfulness (T32, Paladins, 2021-05-16; T6, Ashtar, 2021-03-28).
What a Soul Contract Is
The most thorough description in the archive comes from the paladins, who frame contracts as the granular structure of the pre-birth plan: 'all of the souls you had planned earlier, you had made soul contracts with them and then you reincarnated on this earth and they are just like you. They are helping you grow on your spiritual journey. They are also on their own life mission' (T32, Paladins, 2021-05-16). Every significant person in a life — parents, siblings, partners, antagonists — is described as a contractual partner with whom the soul made agreements about what experiences would be exchanged.
The contracts cover more than relationships. The Ashtar Command notes that physical lifespan itself is contractual: 'as long as the soul wants to continue its life in the incarnation in question it will continue doing so… if provided in the soul contract it had more time to live in that lifetime' (T6, Ashtar, 2021-03-28). When the soul's contracted experiences are complete — fulfilled or definitively refused — the body's continued operation becomes a different kind of question.
How Contracts Are Made
Ra's extended teaching on the planning phase before incarnation is the most architectural account. The The Higher Self surveys the soul's accumulated 'river' of past-life imbalances and proposes circumstances designed to address them; the soul reviews and consents; co-incarnating souls negotiate with one another about who will play which role; the entire arrangement is sealed before the veil is drawn (T314, RA, 2023-03-21; T32, Paladins, 2021-05-16).
Notably, contracts are not always made between positively oriented souls. Ra discloses that the The Anunnaki and other negative-polarity factions make active recruitment offers in this pre-incarnation space: 'a certain entity that had made soul contracts before incarnating on earth with these Anunnakis had decided to come here and trigger these entities soul contract and in order to spread the negative polarization' (T39, Galactic Federation, 2021-06-08). The choice to enter such a contract is itself a free-will act; the architecture honours both polarities.
How Contracts Function in Life
Most of a soul contract runs below conscious awareness. The veil of forgetfulness prevents the surface mind from remembering what was agreed; the contract expresses itself through felt necessity — the irresistible attraction to a particular partner, the inability to leave a particular city, the recurrence of a particular karmic pattern. The The Martians transmission on karma describes the mechanics: 'when both souls are ready they will create a soul binding or a soul agreement wherein the other entity who murdered will have to pay the karmic debt in one way, shape or form' (T40, Martians, 2021-06-11).
Contracts can include difficult experiences chosen by the soul for growth — illnesses, losses, abusive relationships, premature deaths. The corpus is consistent that this does not justify the perpetrator's behaviour; it only acknowledges the soul-level dimension of the arrangement. The 3rd-density actors retain full free-will responsibility for their choices; the contract is what made them available to one another, not what scripted the abuse.
Walk-Ins, Soul Swaps, and Re-Initiated Contracts
The corpus contains a controversial sub-teaching: contracts can be re-initiated mid-life, sometimes resulting in 'walk-ins' or 'soul swaps' where a different soul takes over a body whose original occupant has departed or surrendered the vessel. Ra's Bill Gates transmissions are the most-cited example: 'this entity known as Bill Gates soul contract has been re-initiated after the month of August and this entity has reinstated the soul contract with the reptilians' (T84, RA, 2021-09-24); the follow-up clarifies that 'in essence this entity made agreements or soul agreements with the so-called Orion's who put in a reptilian soul in this physical vehicle of the one known as bill' (T87, RA, 2021-10-05).
This teaching is uncomfortable but consistent within the corpus's logic: if the soul is the primary occupant of the body and the body is its vessel, then occupancy is in principle transferable through contract — including to entities the soul might never have chosen had the negotiation been conscious.
Renegotiation and Conscious Contracts
Contracts are not eternal sentences. Saint Germain and Archangel Michael both teach that contracts can be renegotiated once the soul reaches sufficient awareness — through Meditation, through Forgiveness, through direct invocation of the The Higher Self. Saint Germain's Violet Flame practice is described as one mechanism by which old contracts can be released: the flame burns through the karmic substrate on which the contract was written.
The The Martians are explicit that Forgiveness is the key clearing mechanism: 'forgiveness gives you the power' (T32, Paladins, 2021-05-16) to dissolve contracts whose lessons have been understood. Ra adds that Wanderers entering Earth have made high-density contracts to assist in this re-negotiation work — many wanderers, in this framing, are here precisely to model contract release for the larger collective (T314, RA, 2023-03-21).
Common Misunderstandings
First, soul contracts are not deterministic. The corpus is emphatic that free will operates above the contract: any moment of conscious awareness can refuse a clause. Second, contracts are not a moral verdict — agreeing to play 'victim' in a karmic exchange does not mean the soul was 'asking for it' in any way that excuses the other party. Third, not every difficult event in a life is contracted; the corpus also acknowledges interference from outside the soul's plan, which is why discernment matters. Fourth, releasing a contract is not the same as repressing the lesson — true release happens after the lesson has been integrated, not before. Forgiveness is the canonical clearing tool.
